Knorr

:eek:Hi, what’s going on? We have been trying for the last six months here in Denia to get Knorr tomato soup in a packet, my misses uses it to make curries, we can’t find any. Is there a famine of tomatoes I have not heard about. I haven’t had a decent Ruby for months.

Isn't there an equivalent in your area of this type of place (British food hall near Madrid)?

Or can't you persuade someone here who's flying out to Alicante to bring across a few packets? Perhaps we need a top cook here to suggest alternatives; I would have thought tomatee puree, but obviously you're looking for a certain taste. Be interesting to see what other posters suggest.

You can say that again

Ingredients
Dried tomatoes, potato starch, modified milk ingredients, corn syrup solids, sugar, hydrolyzed corn protein, canola oil, salt, onion powder, modified corn starch, autolyzed yeast extract, dried basil and parsley, spices, potassium phosphate, sodium silicoaluminate, silicon dioxide and sulphites.

I would suggest Tomate Frito. Available everywhere in Spain.

If you have plenty of garden grown tomatoes left over from the season you can freeze them and use them in a frito too.

Re: Knorr

Baz............If Mrs Baz uses tomato Frito, coconut milk, onion, and pataks mild curry paste she will be able to make a fantastic curry either meat, prawn or veg.The curry paste albeit shown as mild is really madras strength. Look at the ingredients that go into the Knorr packet soup above ugggggh, I must say you are the first I know who uses it to make a curry. maybe You need to stop using such items and use the wonderful fresh items available in Spain. Best of luck in your search the hidden knorr.:rofl:

You can buy it here at this link who will post to Spain very cheap.

That's no good the ingredients are different. It wouldn't taste, you know, English!

Ingredientes:

I am sure the Spanish soup would not taste the same. I have found the Mars Bars and Kit Kats made here do not have that creamy taste in fact are awful :(

The chocolate on mars bars is all crumbly and dry I've noticed, and there a ripoff so I never bother.

Re: Knorr

I must say we do use an English shop to get Pataks curry paste and Shredded wheat now winter is upon us, There is little else as you can find most things or their likeness in the Supermarkets. With Curry we use the MEXICAN FAJITAS bread just warmed though on a pan and they taste just as good as the indian chapati. They are available at most Supermarkets. I bet you have stuffed yourself with all your English goodies, My nearest one some 5 miles away was selling two for one easter eggs the other week :rofl:

I can't believe that weeks later Knorr is still the flavour of the month(s) when as jdr says, there's frito (admittedly a bit sweeter) and triturado, not to mention tom concentrate paste (don't know Spanish name)... what the heck's knorr got that these haven't, apart from countless E numbers?

I suppose its the taste!
No, Frito is not the same and has a totally different taste, I have been on the www.knorr.es site and they still list the packet tomato soup but I still cannot find a stockist.
I will get some bought over from the uk as there does not seem to be a problem there.

Heres a link for all you Knorr fans.

I have noticed that Intermarché supermarkets seem to sell the Knorr range, I am not a fan but I remembered that people had problems locating the said items.

E-Bay not much to post from Germany if you need it that much.:ohmy:

Each to your own but I suppose that depends on whether you have the time, we sometimes have to make soup for 40 people, my wife uses the Knorr tomato soup as a base adding frito and other bits and bobs so that she can make a very large and tasty soup quickly so that she has time to prepare the other 3 courses for 40 people.
