Kit Cars

Does anyone know what the legalities of homebuilt cars are in Spain. By that I mean using a chassis from one model car and a body kit bought from a manufacturer to replicate a vintage/sports/expensive car model etc and assembling it yourself? I don't mean building it in Spain but bringing one over.

In the UK once its built and had its SVR ( extra long mot) its fit for the road and just has a yearly mot like any other car. Would it be the same in Spain, ie just an mot every so often or do they frown on such things as home built vehicles??

I have both a Panther Lima and a AC Cobra replica. But I haven't bought them to Spain. I remember asking this same question as you and was directed to a local classic car club. All members there were driving vehicles still carrying UK number plates. After some nice and harmless correspondence, I asked a question re insurance, and was met with a deafening silence. And from that moment on they stopped responding. So....I think it probably best to off to Traffico and get the info straight from the horses mouth. Good luck.

I have a specialist Gestor near you who deals with matters such as this LLF, you could ask the question of you felt the need to bring them here

That rollbar must be about as much use as a chocolate teapot!

I've looked into this in some detail, and it seems to be that if you can buy a spanish registered one then lucky you and go for it (if you can afford the premium here!!), but if you want to try and regsiter one, then good luck!

As an example of price, I saw a Westfile for 23k here, which would be 6/7 in UK!!

I toyed with the idea myself until I saw some poor Ferari replicas going for, IMO, way over the odds.
