If you are in a word document look in the drop down INSERT and go into SYMBOL there are loads of mathematical symbols etc there. If the one you want is there save it onto one of you F keys and then it is there when you want it.

Is it this?

μm

I think that's the Greek symbol for micron. As rosemary said, you can find it in Word

Have never done it so I suggest that you go into Windows help and look up function keys, then follow the instructions.

When you select it, μ, there should be an option that says keys (??? don't know what your English computer says but my program says teclas so I suppose that's it) then say where you want to save it as a shortcut.
