If you apply for Spanish citizenship, ( in order to get Spanish passport) do you not have to renounce UK citizenship?

If you have lived in Spain legally for 5 years you will have a right to permanent residency.

To get a Spanish passport requires 10 years of residency and quite a few other conditions.

If you are granted citizenship you do have to renounce your UK citizenship, however the UK does not allow you to do that so you would actually retain dual citizenship.
