Jim's guides

I know this has been mentioned before here.

I tried to look at these earlier but all I had was a message saying "So long and thanks for all the fish".
Anyone know what's happened this time?

There's a note from when he left that site to say that he deleted his guides, although one or two remain.

Fair enough, thanks.
I gathered that he'd pretty much had enough after his wife died.

Something happened to his geek as well and he didn't want the hassle of learning geeky stuff and much of it was getting out of date so he called time - a great shame, some fab stuff on there a lot of which was not anywhere else as far as I could find.

You're right, it was a wealth of knowledge in one place.
Shame, but these things happen.

Re: Jim's guides

They guides were freely downloadable when the site was operational and if some kind person were to offer free hosting I'm pretty sure Jim would have no objection to them being put back up online again.

Any offers?

Looks like there's a copy of the guides held on archive.org but you might find some links don't work and the format of others has changed (i.e. they don't look as pretty as they should).

That's from 2018 and quite a lot has changed since then.

Unless things are constantly updated this is the ongoing problem with taking any form of guide.as 100% correct.

Id agree here and to be honest most guides from before 2020 would be next to useless for any UK citizen wanting to move over, holiday home buyer perhaps...

The other thing I found with Jim's Guides and all the others we read before making the move, were that some were area specific and its not possible for anyone to write without being completely neutral.
We have this here, Im happy in a flat in a small village with no pool or garden, 12k from the coast, but we have friends who live in Albir and they think we are mad to live where we do..

I used to have a blog on my wordpress page but a lot of the comments were from people who's experience was different to mine and I stopped posting to it, even though it was clearly just my ramblings on our new life in Spain..
