Its a boy.

The Duchess of Cambridge was hoping for a son and her wish has come true, after she gave birth to a baby boy this afternoon.

The baby weighed 8lbs 6oz and was born at 4.24pm, the palace said.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight," Kensington Palace said in a statement.

"The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.

And what exactly has that got to do with Spain?

Anyway, thanks for that information, at least I won't have to search the papers tomorrow to find out what happened.:(

Yes, but on the Siesta forum I think Fred means.

Congrats to all concerned anyway, lets just hope to God they don't give him Charlie for a monika, though Philip I wouldn't mind too much.

Presumably you didn't watch it then, I know I didn't. In fact the first I knew of it was from a Spanish news site I was reading. Personally I have no interest whatsoever, but equally I have nothing against the girl, and I'm sure the programme was enjoyed by many, many people that seem to love the Royal Family. Witness the people that spent hours outside Buck House waiting for news, sad really, but they're happy! Not for me, but if it gives them pleasure, why not? I'm not a monarchist but I don't mind paying my 60p a year or whatever it is to keep them.

I guess now we will be bombarded with newspaper pictures and TV programs about the royals.... to the exclusion of real news. :frown:

Already they are directing you to a web page where you can view "pictures of Kate's nine month pregnancy".....as if we would want to.

I am a Monarchist and delighted that the line of succession is strengthened because of this birth. Had the Cambridges' failed to reproduce then the questionable Prince Harry and any offspring he may produce would succeed.

I believe it is related to the Spanish crown but I can't be bothered to work out how :)

Politically, I seem to be all over the place nowadays, but I'm still something like a quarter-monarchist, the proportion used to be much higher.

I hope they name the boy James rather than William, King Jimmy might appease the Scottish voters next September, King Billy would be too divisive.

It seems there is more euphoria in the rest of the world than on this forum.

Perhaps they'll surprise us all and name the kid Pepe? It goes with Pippa.

I've just switched on BBC Breakfast to see a shot of a man holding an eagle outside Buck House - the reporter said it was because yesterday a radio newsreader said the announcement of the birth would be displayed on an eagle outside the Palace!!!:lol::lol:

I am pro-Royal family, but the reporting is crazy!!! How can they fill up hours with meaningless drivel!! It always happens when something big happens... all the speculation, the 'experts' speaking etc etc.

Today they went to a maternity ward where 21 babies were born yesterday and interviewed a mother, delighted with her baby. But tried all along to make a link with the royal birth. One stupid question was about the Mum thinking of the royal birth occurring when she was having hers, and she said something like 'no I wasn't thinking of that, I was concentrating on my breathing'.. Of course!!! Then I laughed because another question was whether she was proud to have a baby on the same day: The Mum answered something like 'its a an extra-special joyous occasion for us as she was born during Ramadan'!!! Not the answer the questioner expected.

Tomorrows headlines in the Sun "Royal Baby born during Ramadan'.

There's gotta be a joke there somewhere!

Good for our multicultural country!

I get the distinct impression some of these roving reporters are thrusting their microphones under the noses of any passer-by and asking if they have any connection at all with the Cambridges. "Well, I did see a picture of them once" - you'll do! I'm heartily sick of it all already.

Wouldn't it be funny if they asked W+K if they are happy that their child was born on Ramadan !!

Well with the leftie BBC anything is possible, surprised they haven't mentioned it already:rolleyes: Seems the foreign press are just as hooked, even got the front page in some Spanish papers despite all the mess about Rajoy being impeached.
