Internet in 2. home
#1

A family are going to rent my house for a 3-4 month period. They want to be able to work from home and bring their job with them to Spain. Therefore they need an Internet connection which allows them to work without any problems.
Does anybody have experience with installing internet (probably ADSL) in their second home in Spain? Which company would you recommend, and why?
The landline is currently closed, so I would need to have that re-opened. Can this only be done by telefonica??

yes. you would need to contact telefonica and get the line re-opened (did you not pay the bill?? :O )
and then contract adsl in your name for your house. it is around 41,95€ a month from telefonica which includes all european fixed line calls. this sounds like a complete bargin to me and is what i will be getting.
as an aside, are you going to charge them for the the line rental, internet and any mobile calls they make? this could run into 200€ a month easily if they call uk mobiles.

I would charge them for every kind of use they make for the phone line. If they can afford to live here for a while, then they can probably also afford to pay the internet and phone bill....

you HAVE to have a phone line with telefonica - there is no alternative unless you get satalite internet?? (600€ installation costs?!?!!)
the isp can be anyone - i only suggested staying with telefonica as that includes european land line fone calls, and therefore cuts down IMENSLY on the phone bill.

Unless you know them really well or are pretty confident that they are reliable I wouldnt personally go to all the trouble for a 3/4 month rental.

Bump the price up so that it covers the 12 months internet service contract + whatever you feel is appropriate for bringing the phone back on line.
See if there's a wireless service already available.
See if anyone nearby wants to share a wireless service.
