We want to take responsibility and do this properly, but we are not sure now what to do. Hubby is trying to speak to the brit consulate for advice. Has anyone had to do this, We started off trying to do a IVA, but that wont work either.

Re: insolvency in spain
Just a thought, but shouldn't most of the stuff done on this thread been better off in the chat room?

Re: insolvency in spain
I looked at the thread as I thought it was an interesting subject but ended up reading 4 pages of chat which this will also turn into if I reply to everyones comments.
It was just an observation!! |

It was just an observation!! I think that the op had quite a bit of info, and if she felt that the thread had gone astray she would have said so. The info needed is still there so personally I don't see any problems, but as I said, it is a personal view. |

We are looking to do the same thing, it seems it would affect property owned here too, try this website http://myvesta.org.uk/forum/template...it-pagetop.jpg they say theyll do it for you, im not sure how to proceed myself or if any creditors can touch us here, have you any ideas?
We have decided to write to our creditors and explain the situation, we have been told to suggest to them they wipe the dept as other options are likely to be lengthy and unproductive. I think it depends on the type of figures you owe and the back ground to the situation. I would be happy to PM you further on this I know it sounds like we left the UK and got out of paying our debts, but that is not the situation. We want to take resposibility for our debts as we believe what goes around comes around! spk soon love maryx x x |

Re: insolvency in spain
Thanks for that I was going to try and file, there is a website with model letters that look excellent for writing to creditors, http://www.insolvencyhelpline.co.uk/..._creditors.htm, if it helps. I will be using it too, let me know if you find anything else, thanks

Re: insolvency in spain
by the way, do you creditors have your address here or did they find you?

Re: insolvency in spain
Maybe chatting to an an accountant would be better than a lawyer. You may not have to go bankrupt. I know someone who had over 100 grand of debts and they ended up paying off only 20k and never had to go bankrupt. Their accountant put them onto someone who dealt with it. If you had an accountant in UK, you may want to ask their advice rather than a lawyer.
