INR Blood test - Warfarin
 

I have done a search, I am looking for up to date info. Whilst staying in Iznajar for a few months I will require an INR blood test as I am taking Warfarin for life. How do I go about this ? Does anyone have local knowledge ?

I think the best way is to contact the nearest Hospital,
to arrange to have the blood test done.
(normally taken in the morning and your results ready for collection
just before 2pm)

Go to your local health centre. They do regular tests for the Spanish equivalent of Warfarin which is Sintron.

As little English is spoken in Iznajar and unfortunately at the moment my Spanish is basic, will using Google translate be good enough for me to use so I can advise the HC what I need ?

Would I pay for this or use my EHIC card ?

Your EHIC should cover it.

Contrary to what some people seem to believe, the card can be used for much more than "emergency" treatment. It covers any treatment that you need while away including and treatment for chronic conditions.

You can even use it if you need regular dialysis.

absolutely true - I can tell from personal experience

my dad has a hospital appointment with a specialist tomorrow - he is here for a longish holiday using his EHIC card

he had actually planned to go home end of next week, but it depends now on what the specialist says
