Mérida. Supposedly the Roman monuments are the main attraction and it's true they are impressive. But I liked the river best.

Thanks both. Mitzy is right, this thread is under-used. I think maybe it's often overlooked purely for being pinned at the top of the page, I'm guilty of that myself.

Looking at some of these fabulous photos I am minded to say that Spain was very fortunate in not having an equivalent to our Victorians, who replaced much of our historic buildings with mock gothic crap.
