I'm heading to Spain in July...or am I?
 

Long before the corona virus hit Europe I booked a flight from NYC to Madrid with Air Europa. Plan is/was to spend about 2 weeks in Andalusia to see the place (my first visit to Spain) and to seriously look into moving to live there in 2020 or 2021. To meet with lawyers, accountants, etc.

I'm hoping by July the worse of the virus outbreak will be over which will allow me to enter Spain without a quarantine period. I'm also hoping Air Europa will not go bankrupt.

What are the chances of things being mostly back to normal by July?

Nobody knows right now and we also planned to do some work on our property in May (can forget that). If you've never been to Spain and do make it over in July, don't rush into buying.

Things may begin to improve in July but its going to take a long long time to get back to anything like normal. If we're very lucky a vaccine will be found but it could easily be two years before millions are getting the jab.

July is 3 months away. In Wuhan now there are few new infections or deaths so the city is getting back to normal.

The temp hospitals in Wuhan are closing and shops are opening but broadly speaking the country is still lockdown. We're not going to see open borders for months yet, certainly very doubtful many if any international flights will be operating in July.

I also have a ferry booked for mid-July - I am not expecting it to be happening and due to the current UK shut-down I may now not be able to take that date anyway as projects have been pushed back. All one can do is wait through April and see what May brings us.

UPDATE. Air Europa has cancelled flights to/from United States until at least 31/07/20 and people in the USA are currently banned from entering Spain so I've cancelled my ticket. :thumbdown:Anyway, before doing a research trip to Spain I want to wait and see what the government plans to do about the debt and the economy...not to mention when the Corona situation will be under control. If they plan on raising taxes through the roof and cut services then Spain is probably not for me as my income will unlikely be enough to live there reasonably comfortably.

Sorry to hear that you are "not allowed in"...

But your point about income.. As long as you have €1000 a month you´ll be fine. Millions of people live in spain on less.

As a non EU national he will have to prove a personal income of around €2400/mth and €600 for a spouse and the same again for other dependants, plus of course fully inclusive private health insurance.

Just as would be Brit immigrants will from Dec 31st.

I'm currently in the USA but I'm from Australia but I also have an EU passport and I don't mean a Brit EU passport.
