Is it illegal for shops to sell free samples?

As my wife is currently having chemotherapy, I was advised at the hospital, to purchase some special mouthwash from a specialist " cancer" farmacia in Seville. When we got home I found that the mouthwash dispenser had " free sample" stamped on the base , as also did the packaging . Is it illegal for a shop to sell such items? I might add that I was charged full price for it.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer for their comments. I would have thought it is illegal.

I do not think it is illegal but it is a poor reflection on the business and its practice. The more so given the circumstances in which it was purchased.

Thanks
As we live right in the corner of the province ( 100km from Sevilla) I propose to call in at the place when we go back for the next treatment session at the end of next week, and confront them
