IBERBANDA STOPPING WIMAX
Just when you think you have things sorted, along comes a problem out of the blue. We had a letter from Telefonica who own Iberbanda to say that they will no longer be offering the WIMAX broadband service, and it will cease to be functional on 26 June 2017. Just a couple of points
1. Very short notice to now have to arrange an alternative as we have guests arriving in June who expect wifi.
2. The letter offers an alternative system at nearly 20 euros a month more, no wonder they are pulling the WIMAX service.
My question to all you knowledgeable people out there is is there a good alternative system? We live in the campo so the WIMAX system was perfect. I presume the next best thing is a satellite system, we only need wifi, not bothered about tv, mobiles or fixed phone line.

You haven't said where you are - there may well be other WiMax providers in your area.

Re: IBERBANDA STOPPING WIMAX
Several possibilities.
Movistar do a rural offering which wont be appropriate but might be interesting to others. Tv, unlimited internet and two mobiles one with small amount of daya and one with something like 12gb and maybe a landline. 75 euros a month.
Satellite internet - Tooway, through a supplier like Bentley Walker. Home product is something like £35 a month for 2 gb. If you exceed the limit you are limited in speed to around 256k. If your guests are avid you tubers or the like they will soon use your allowance.
Mifi . 3g or 4g device with a sim. 4g in the campo is a bit patchy. Loja has a mast, dont know about Huetor. Again you are likely to be capped each month. I dont know any uncapped deals since vodaphone pulled theirs.
Guests bring their own internet . Isnt the 15th june the day roaming is brought in for the laggard mobile operators. 3 have been roaming free for a while i believe.
Tv Loja are doing a similar offering to movistar rural (i.e. More than you currently want) in the coming two years for campo dwellers in pueblos around Loja, with an antenna on a suitable building e.g. Village hall transmitting and receiving. Dont know if they cover Huetor yet
