Can anyone help..... we are looking into "property management" (another one i hear you say) and needing some ideas on how to get started, we are in the Costa Calida area 10-15 mins from San Javier Airport where there are more than enough villas and apartments to go around and this seems the ideal business to set up at first.....

Get some leaflets done with what you are prepared to do, and of course costs. Then advertise in local shops and the local english language papers just give the bare bones in the paper adverts but stick the leaflets up on lampposts etc all round, seems to be what all the others do round here.

Go to a Gestor and ask them what you need to do to work at it legally.
If you advertise and you are not legal, you could get a few unexpected extra costs. ;-)

Very true ! Also don't think it's easy money.
So far this week i have had a fuseboard blow up in one apartment,
an aircon unit break down in another, (both fixed now by qualified, legal and insured experts)
A sun lounger break (due to a fat a**e) now replaced
And a woman ringing me at 11.45pm to tell me that the garden in the apartment needs a little tidying !!

You must have a good back up team of tradespeople, and this time of year, a
sense of humour !!

Good luck in your endevours, and please take on board the advice about being legal and also getting public liability insurance.

Unfortunatly madam I do not have the relevant child care qualifications required in Spain to care for other peoples children.

They leave their brains on the plane, she has never met me before and wanted to leave what should be her most treasured possesions with me.

Some people don't deserve children, I bet in the u.k. she tells them not to talk to strangers !!!

5 Americans with a baby, (gee Elmer ain't that cute)
2 French that refer to me as the maid !!

very interesting thread & glad to hear it isn´t just me that is a magnet for the occasional idiot.

My favourite call was - client - ´hello, we are lost in the car´,
me ´any chance of being a bit more specific, Spain is a big country, are you in France? ´
Client - ´we are in the mountains & can´t see the sea´
Me - ´well that must limit it to 90% of Spain´

In the end I got them to stop & give their phone to a service station attendant who was a bit surprised when I asked him where he was! They were,´t actually that far away but no map, went dark, screaming kids.

I could quite easily write a book on stupid phone calls from a small minority, majority are fine & cool. Odd 1 is a walking liability.

Went to do a mid-clean this morning, it rained Friday, woman in apartment said when it rained i got all black stuff on my washing.
Pointed out to her the bbq next to her washing !!! Bless:rofl::rofl:
