Probably cheaper to get replated in Spain then get replated again in UK.
Or just pretend the car hasn't been here that long...who's to know I don't travel back and forth.
You have to PROVE that it hasn't been in Spain that long, for trsffic offences you are considered guilty, and have to prove your innocense, they can, and will, impound your car there and then, and you could be left miles from where you want to be without transport.

Grey area...see the discussion on here: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=676335

Do you think as an alternative a return date/ticket would satisfy the guardia?

It is an offence to drive a foreign car if you live in Spain, it has to be changed to Spanish plates.
The best and cheapest way is to bring it over as your chattels and register it as soon as possible.

But I am sure you are just going to keep opening threads on the subject till you get a reply to suit you on how to dodge the system.
The only thing you really need to dodge are the ever more frequent road blocks where the nasty policeman will take you vehicle off you and charge you a nice round fee for doing so.
If you want to live here, then abide by the rules.

The OP has now had more than enough information for him to make a reasoned decision.

Just adding this to the locked thread so it doesnt develop any further, but the Embassy page on cars and UK licences has been updated today
