Default how much per month to live comfortably?

I know it's all a bit subjective and all but let's say, how much would a couple in their 40's need to live a modest lifestyle in Spain.
costa del Sol, or one of the beach towns.

not buying , but renting
so rents, food, entertainment, (maybe out for dinner and drinks twice a week)
bills, etc etc.

I know its a difficult question, but roughly what do you think would be enough?
could it be done for around 2000 euros a month?

Depends on your choice of rental property but if the rent is say €500/700 pm you should be fine on €2000 pm.

You will need private health care to budget for as well, plus prescriptions will not be subsidised.

Only people who can get cheaper healthcare are retirees.

Depends entirely on location. In some places - particularly in city centres, yes it would be an apartment - but outside the centres in the country, that could pay for a palace with land, pool, etc.

Probably similar to Italy, and depending entirely on a number of factors, including income, age, etc. But typically about €300 per month - about 50% higher for couples. Prescriptions aren't free, but they are indeed "subsidised" even though another poster claimed they are not.

In some cases the person does have to pay up to 60 % of prescriptions, depending on income.
Go to Govnt website, Healthcare in Spain, to see the full chart.

These " how much does it cost to live" threads are so subjective to be almost pointless but since others are having a bash I will too.

How much should my monthly costs be- I collect Faberge eggs, drive a Rolls Royce and have a chronic cocaine habit

Not on the Costa del sol

A good 3 bed villa with a pool in a nice location would be more like 1000-1500 euros per month even in these times

The same property 6 years ago would rent out for 1500-2000 euros per month

But if you want just a little 2 bed flat then 500-700 euros is absolute fine pretty much anywhere except first line of the beach in Marbella

Nonsense cricketman. Go on Kyero and in the €600 bracket you have no probs getting a villa with pool in CDS
