Wasn't intentional, but out walking today and popped in the supermarket and they were selling a Chilean wine which we like, Vina Maipo Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc. From £10 down to £5, we couldn't walk out empty handed.

There are some good SB wines from Spain, particularly the Marques de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc but that is now about €8 and still not a patch on the NZ versions or even the Chilean wines.

Just did a google and this is a really good wine for the price. We paid about 9.80 euro in El Corte Inglés.

....
As for non Spanish wines in Spain -they are very difficult to find as the Spanish, quite reasonably, are parochial about their wines - just like the French.
The beauty of buying wine in the UK is that as they only have a limited production of UK wines the supermarkets have a huge choice of wines from around the world.
I particularly like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc - it is virtually unobtainable here (it might be different in Madrid) so I have to persuade my friends who regularly drive down from the UK for the winter to bring me some!

Looks good value but the best Chilean SB wines are still not quite up there with the good NZ wines - but they are nearer £10 a pop now. One Chilean wine which is usually very good in any of its varietals is Casillo de Diabolo which is available in Spain at around €8. The Cabernet Sauvignon red is absolutely brilliant and the Sauvignon Blanc white is pretty good.

Yes agree, we like that one as well. If you like those, you may well like Luis Felipe Edwards, we only buy when on offer though!

I'll look out for that one - thanks.
Even the established Spanish winemaker Miguel Torres now have a very good Chilean vineyard and some of those wines are easily available in Spain.
The ones I have seen are branded "Santa Digna". The Rosado is pretty good.

Thanks, it's getting like a wine club here! Yes, we also like Torres, the man from Cataluña, similar tastes. If you haven't already tried Storks Tower, keep an eye out for it. Despite the name, it's Spanish, and as you like NZ wine, the guy in charge is a New Zealander. Plus I do like a bit of verdejo! Not everyone's taste, but I like it.
