I know the area on the west of La Palma where fairly recent eruptions occurred and heard it mentioned that a big one there could take out New York and the East Coast of the U.S. but as for a large part of the island possibly falling into the sea, that's certainly news to me.
And the direction of the wave is speculative,so Tenerife might end up a Mid-Atlantic sovereign state.
