House phones

can anyone please tell me if my Panasonic walkabout phones will work in Spain. Just thought about that one as we're packing. We have a three handset system which was quite expensive. But not sure they will work there! Cheers

Yes, but you'll need different cable (or at least the socket into the wall is different for your base station).

You can get converters to take the UK BT-type plug and pass it through to the Spanish RJ11 type plug.
I seem to have messed up the link but it does take you to the item on the Amazon web site.

Cheers! So I will keep them in storage while we are travelling. Sort it out if and when we make the decision to make our home in Spain. Hoping we can. Dependant on my husbands health in a Spanish winter. Fingers crossed. :fingerscrossed:

Why get a land line installed just get the Internet €18 a month (€7 when not there) use your I phone to FaceTime Skype or what's app call any one you like. Get Apple TV and mirror film on to your TV for all English channels via WIFI. Such a cheap option. GL with the move I am sure you will love it.

Fair enough. But i think youll find often enough, that items like a plug adapter sold at the Chinese shop for €1 are the very same ones sold at Media Markt for €4.99.

Also, have you ever looked at where those quality German brands of appliances are made? Hint: it's not Germany.

Quite right, I used Session Talk combined with Draytel.org for years in Spain, and indeed still do in the UK. Dont have a chargeable telephone line, all connected through the internet. When calls come in to the free UK number, if I dont answer because I'm out it transfers to my iPhone if I set it to do so.

We have a similar system. Different provider though. Like yours, a nice feature for us is that we have phones at our houses in both in Spain and Germany (and at one time in the UK too), all ring as though in same house on same line. Can also ring on your mobile too (although answering it on your mobile incurs the usual mobile charges).

We also have incoming numbers in Spain, Germany, UK, and the US that ring on those phones. All of the usual stuff, caller id, call waiting, forwarding, rollover, conferencing, voicemail. You can even automate your voicemail to turn on and off at regular times (e.g., at nights so you don't get irritating calls) any voice messages are sent by email. You can also switch the line to a fax line temporarily (sends incoming faxes to you by email) although we rarely have needed that. And you can manage it from anywhere with any Internet device (e.g., tablet, smartphone, pc). Best if all, we can call between any of those phones for zero. Or anyone else in-network.
