Default hotels in Barcelona?

Hello. I wonder if anyone can help please. We're going to the elbow gig in Barcelona in 2 weeks and will need a nice, simple but not too expensive hotel in central Barcelona-can you recommend one or two?
Thanks

Hi. I've not stayed at one of these, but an apartment may make sense if there's more than one of you. Good luck in finding a hotel - Barcelona gets a lot of tourists so vacant places that are inexpensive may be hard to find

Also try this site which has a more comprehensive list of hostales (similar to b&b ) and hotels

Take a look at
http://www.alpharooms.com/ I've used them a lot these last couple of years. I had a quick look and you can get a week in a Holiday Inn Express for @ £250 for two.

www.booking.com offers many at any budget , just look at the
ratings of previous visitors to gauge the hotel

Incidentally, can you give us feedback afterwards on where you decided to stay? A lot of people may want to visit Barcelona, and the accommodation is always an issue. Thanks.

Thanks everyone for help. I shall start trawling this evening and of course will be happy to provide feedback, we're only stopping 3 nights and flying from Pescara with Ryanair.

Last time I was in Barcelona just a few weeks ago, I stayed at 'Live & Dream' A small, slightly difficult to find hotel in the montjuc area. It was very simple Almost like a Backpacker hostal. And the rooms were small. But I have to say I rather liked it! I too recommend Booking.com Even though they didn't give my husband a job!

Will review when we've been

Confortel hotel was fine and only a few steps from the gig BUT the venue was changed last minute due to over demand for tickets so had to do metro journeys-bit of a bummer really.
However, hotel was fine but a little pricey on the food and drinks-expected that anyway. "Tried?" to charge us for laundry but didn't succeed! Clean laundry daily and quiet . Clean and warm. Free internet (with PC's) but very slow. staff helpful. Breakfast 10 Euro so didn't bother as we only do coffee. Would stay again.

For those on a slightly different budget...

I am currently in Barcelona and fed up with taking advantage of friends sofas whilst waiting for a telephone call to confirm work.

5 minute walk from La Rambla. €12/night for a safe, dry, warm bed (breakfast included). Twin rooms from €35/night.

I don't pay for luxury when all I want is a bed and a shower. HelloBCN. Cheap, basic, but very friendly and professional.

It's a backpackers hostal, but you can take a private room. Highly recommended if all you want is bed, shower and breakfast.

This is where we stayed when we were last in Barclelona
Very central, 4th floor or thrid floor room on the front will get you a view of the palace chimneys, and iirc it cost us €70 for the room on booking.com. That was in June iirc, so I dont know what they are like at this time of year

That seems to be per person, with a two person minimum. So for a single traveler the room cost would be 70 Euro per night. I believe that you could do slightly better than a backpackers hostel for that price.

You might even get somewhere you could sleep in the dark hours and leave with the same number of belongings that you arrived with

So it is. Being a single just looking for a bed I didn't ask about the €35/€30 'as advertised' price.

But, unfair to say you might lose stuff.

It is a backpackers hostel. And, a very cool hostel for backpackers. Bike tours by day, free culb tours by night. Summer, nightime fun in Barcelona's Olympic swimming pool.

For a bed in a shared dorm... €12/night with breakfast.

Free luggage storage.
Free WiFi - free internet at PC's for 20 minutes at a time.
Washing machines at €3/load.
Kitchen with everything you need.
A gym for free also.
24 hour access.

All for €12/night in the centre of Barcelona!

It is a backpackers hostel, and we all know why the private rooms are there

I'm too old for this really, and condoms alone are f***ing expensive enough!
