"cover for subsidence" is a special case that is NOT covered by Spanish general home insurance, It covers the repair or rebuild costs if the ground under the house moves. this could cost thousands of pounds of damage to the house. If it gets bad enough they need to tear the house down and rebuild it. it is covered in EVERY insurance policy in the UK but NOT in Spain.

Subsidence cover for buildings may not be given under a standard policy but insurance is available. You could try asking an insurance broker. If your finca in Valencia is not going to be your permanent home, why not get insurance through Lloyd's under any of the overseas holiday homes schemes? Get a policy in 'plain English' tailor made for your circumstances? One web site I found was http://www.hifxinsure.com/policy.asp which says that 'subsidence' is covered. No idea if this policy is suitable though or if the premium is sensible.
