Default Home contents insurance

Currently renting our "home" and trying to obtain home contents insurance.

We have tried our bank "La Caxia" and Linea Direct however they appear to do building and contents only.

any info as to where we could obtain home contents insurance.

many thanks

I have my contents insured via Salt Bay Insurance, the lady who runs the company is called Patricia and she speaks excellent English and will find you the best deal. My only dealings with her have been via e-mails but she is always helpful and quick.

Any good broker will arrange contents only insurance - banks typically want the building insured because they may hold the mortgage. Also they will be taking a high commission.

A friend has just arranged contents only (he rents) through Linea Direct.

I would recommend Linea Directa. I am sure they do contents only > http://www.lineadirecta.com/ZZRecurs...-insurance.htm

Be careful with the small print, cheapest is not always best. A.n.other companies have some unsusual terms e.g. they do not cover loss where there is not been a break in

You need to check the LD policy - it is the most "exclusive" I have seen.

I looked at it as it was half the price I am paying. There were so many exclusions and conditions it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.

Shame really as their car insurance is the best there is.

No problems until you claim. As I said check the small print.

There are very low limits on what you can claim unless they take almost everything!

Great if they trash the house and take the lot but not so good if they just steal the expensive bits!

I am insured with :-

http://www.intasure.com

Although I have building and contents I think they do contents only. I have never made a claim so cannot comment on that aspect.
