Home Contents Insurance
Hi, Can anyone recommend a good value home contents insurance (including tools) for someone who rents a property? All the quotes I come across seem to be aimed at landlords renting out ... I want to protect my stuff!

Re: Home Contents Insurance
I have my own place and am insured with Intasure. They have uk and Spanish base. I have not had to make a claim so cannot comment on that side of things.

I use IBEX through Horizons Consultants - they speak both English (native) and Spanish. (Tel: 966 481 382)
I use them for all my insurance needs (cars, contents, property etc.)

We insure through Linea directa, contact online, have never had to claim thank goodness so do not know how good they are to pay out.

I looked at their policy when they first introduced it but although it was half what I pay, the small print restrictions on burglary made it more or less useless.

Re: Home Contents Insurance
Technically, contents insurance can be next to worthless.
When I queried this, the insurance person asked me what I thought the insurance value of the room we were in was.
I did a quick calculation, and he shook his head. He pointed out that I hadn't included the decoration, curtains, carpet, etc etc etc. The end figure was so high that there was no way could afford to pay that, and as he pointed out, the company's figure of what the room should have been insured to would be the highest possible, and since I could only afford to insure a fraction of that, they would only pay out a fraction of the claim.

in age insurance companies are not far behind the oldest profession, but seem to make more long term profit

Re: Home Contents Insurance
They basically make a living scaring the crap out of people, and then doing their best to default on paying out.

Re: Home Contents Insurance
Neither was there a discount for an alarm.
It may have changed but that certainly was the case when they first introduced the policy.
My current policy does not insist on rejas, in fact it specifically notes that I don't have any. That's why I was interested in LD as it was cheaper but the cover turned out to be inferior.
