Holiday in Italy from Spain
I'm trying to find flights to Italy from Almeria to Naples or Rome, and it seems that we would have to go via Madrid and it will take over 8 hours or overnight stay in Madrid!
Has anyone been on holiday to Italy since living in Spain? If so, how did you travel there?
I can book the hotel and car hire but I can't believe there are no direct flights!
There are no travel agents in this area either, don't they have them?
If not Italy, where in Europe have you been - flying from Spain?

Malaga go to Rome, we flew with Alitalia in April direct into Fiumincino, stayed close to airport as late arriving then hired a car and drove down to Pompeii. Think there are other direct flights from Málaga, Flight time is slightly shorter than going to UK.

Thanks, which hotel did you stay in and where? We wanted to be based in Sorrento, were you there? How long did the drive take?

We stayed near the ruins in Pompeii called Hotel Forum, was very good and free parking. we drove around from there to Amalfi, Versuvius etc. OK from B and B at fiumicino traffic around Rome and we went to visit Monte Casino stops for coffee etc think we were there by 4pm easy trip down all motorway.
We flew to Rome as flights to Naples were a lot more money, car hire for 8 days was 48 euros full to full.
