hi, i am a qualified carpenter moving to Alicante in may, i was wondering if anyone knew how hard/easy it would be for me to secure a job with in the costa blaca area?

Difficult to say really, hence why you have had no replies. As you can probably imaging there is a plethera of tradesmen over here, both UK and Spanish.
If you don't speak Spanish then it will be twice as difficult, simply put. I guess if you are coming over here without a job then make sure you have enough money to tide you over for at least 6 months as it seems from what I've read that one of the main reasons for brits returning is coming over here, not being able to get work quickly, and then running out of money.

I think you will struggle to get work as wood is almost non existant in building compared to the UK.
The only things are doors to hang and a lot of the time they are already fitted in the frames at the machine shop, sometimes windows but most are plastic now.
The best idea would be working for a kitchen / bedroom fitter.
As mitzyboy says the language is needed, without you have a much smaller market for work.

Hate to be negative but you will find lots of eastern europeans willing to work lots of hours at cheap rates.(same as UK really)
