Help in moving to Majorca
 

Hi everyone

Am hoping to move to Majorca next with my girlfriend to live permanently.
She slovakian and was living there for 2years previously but was wondering if anyone else had any experience of Majorca and could help fill me in.

How easy is it to transfer money from english bank account into euros?
Is it easy to bring a car over from england and what about insurance, taxes?
Trying to learn spanish will I be ok finding a job all year round?
Is rent expensive?
Will it be easy to make friends?

Andy, you're kind of asking a lot of general questions.

Easy to make friends? - well that will depend a lot on you :)

Bank accounts no problem, cars - look around , search this board.

Jobs - depends again a lot on you and what you can do. Most jobs in Mallorca are built around the tourist industry and that is seasonal.

Rent - depends on where you are going to be living. Mallorca is more expensive than many other parts of Spain, the cost of living is higher as well.

Mallorca is a great place.

Try the Majorca Daily Bulletin http://www.majorcadailybulletin.es/ and go through the links section to find out about the place. The main paper on the Island is "Ultima Hora" and if you can get hold of that it will give you some idea about rentals.

It is in Spanish, obviously, but getting that and/or the Daily Bulletin will help.
