Help..I need a doctor !!
 

Hi..
Can anyone help me with any information on finding a doctor that specialises in Immunology or in Rare Diseases in the Malaga province .???.I currently fly to Uk every 3 months..but am finding it hard and very expensive.:(

Also it would help if he or she spoke English !!

A few sites come up if you google it but I would think that your best bet is to gain a recommendation from your local doctor.

No i haven't as I am with sanitas and not quite sure if they woud take it on as I was diagnosed in the Uk and not sure if I am covered ..I would prefer to go national Health here if that's poss as I have to have 3 monthly blood tests and x=rays...so if I had to pay here it might be more expensive than going back to the UK .......!!:curse:

You may get a nasty bill from the UK if they find out you are a Spanish resident.

JDR is right though!
Are you registered with a doctor here? And they may see you for a consultation anyway, and will know who you need to be referred to.

Sorry but reassuring or not, it is reality.
You cannot live in Spain and expect free UK healthcare unless you are a pensioner or holding an E106 or E121 certificate whilst you are getting onto the Spanish health system.

Debrina, Sanitas have a 24 hour help line. They may or may not cover you, depending on if you were honest with them when you signed up. But they will be able to give you the names of specialists that you require, and you may be able to get discounted rates through them with their buying power.

I'm not sure if you work here or if you are retired. If either then you are able to get state health cover here, but I assume not because thats why you have private cover.

You must be careful though as other people advised you, and also Sanitas should know as that could effect other treatment. Its always better to be honest with these people :)

if you are registered at your local doc go there first - take a translator, got to be cheaper than flying back to UK - they will then refer you to a specialist

I came over with a pre-diagnosed rare blood disorder, I have 3 monthly blood tests plus Ive had other tests in Gandia and hospitals in Valencia and will have to have treatment for life - all covered by my husbands monthly contributions
