HELP: Anyone know a good English Speaking legal advisor
A friend has paid all the business start-up costs for a two-way business. The conditions were that when grants were received the money would be paid back in full or in the event of no grant money being forthcoming the money would start to be repaid.
My friend moved out of the premises to allow the partner to trade. My friend paid for licenses, insurances and furnishings as well as all modernisations and refurb within the shop. The partner is still trading from there and refuses to pay anything back.
Does anyone know of a good legal advisor. Geography not too much of a problem as it could be done via phone and email, but she lives in the Antequera area.
I am sure that someone will be able to help.
Thanks.

I suppose it all depends on whether they had an official, legal contract drawn up clearly stating the business conditions.
If not I can't see a legal advisor being able to help much as it would be simply one persons word against the other.

If, by legal adviser, you mean lawyer, there are 1 or 2 English-speaking ones advertising in Local Connections magazine in Antequera. I can suggest who NOT to use in that town
Otherwise go for any recommended lawyer, English-speaking or otherwise and employ a translator.
As Big Wheels has said, it depends on whether the "conditions" took the form of a legally binding contract or not. Was a lawyer used to draw up the original contract conditions?

Dont hold your breath when making claims in Spain ,Ive just been paid after five years of legal nonsense for a house deposit the estate agent would not return, and I had a "bullet proof contract".
It wouldbe great if a county court system was introduced here ...keep dreaming

You only need to Google "english speaking lawyers" followed by the region you live , In my experience a lawer who`s good for one is a nightmare for another.

Contact the nearest British Consulate to you, they will have a list of English speaking Lawyers in your area. The Consulate does not recommend them but I know one firm in Mallorca who got most of their business through this list, and therefore gave great service to Brits.
