Health Scans
In the Uk theres companies like Lifescan etc who do CTC scans for various things, health checks etc, heart, lungs, bowel cancer checks.
Has anyone seen anything similar in Spain?

Private CT ( TACS in Spain) are readily available in all regions of Spain as are all the other main types of health screening services.
Like the UK they are mainly marketed to Corporates and the "worried well".
Like the UK if you present at the Spanish equivalent of the NHS and they think you should be scanned you will be.
If you are considering a private scan you should read up on the risks and dangers before you go ahead.
Best

Re: Health Scans
What about other scans for the big "C" and also for smear tests etc.? In UK these were very regular after a certain age - how does one 'enrol' in these programs here in Spain?

Not sure how the Seguridad Social works as I go private. I just present myself once a year at the gyne's clinic and it is free (or included in the insurance premiums anyway). I get blood analysis done at same time (also included).

In Spain, even if you're are covered privately by sanitas, do you have to see the GP first who will recomend the various tests eg mamogram, colon tests, etc?
Here in order to be covered by the medical plan who will pay for the tests, we have to be referred by our GP, otherwise we have to pay for our tests. Is this the same in Spain?

If you are paying yourself then its doubtful that always you will need a referral.

Smear tests are usually done annually by a gynecologist.

I have never been via my GP to make an appointment with a specialist, I always go direct. But I am only talking about the regular yearly check ups.....smear/ovaries, mamogram, blood, etc. Nothing 'out of the ordinary', or something that requires a diagnosis for which I probably would go to a GP first.
I suppose the best thing to do is simply ask Sanitas what their policy is. I am with Adeslas.

Judging by some of the other answers here it seems there is some inconsistency.

Is Adeslas cheaper & better than Sanitas?
