Health Insurance
Hi, Is anyone covered by the Sanitas Health Plan Basic?? Can you let me know what the plan covers you for, I have looked at their website but can't find anything that gives a clear simple explanation of the cover provided by this plan? Thanks for any help.

I have Sanitas Classic. There is an explanation on the site what each different level covers, and you can compare them on one page.

Hi mitzyboy
Many thanks for the speedy response. Please help a bit more though as whenever I look at the Sanitas website I can't find anywhere to compare the cover from the different plans. Do you know where to find this?
Thanks, Clancy.

Re: Health Insurance
Click on Sanitas Health Plan
A window will open with the three policies
Click on the one you want
At the bottom you will see "download general conditions"
The next page lets you download or view the cover for the plans
I can't see where I compared all three I'm afraid

Re: Health Insurance
The basic plan will not cover you outside Spain and you will have to pay €10 for every doctor visit and pay for medicines. If you are healthy and just want emergency cover it´s makes economical sense. If you have a young family and see the doc regularly go for an upgrade where doctor visits and medicines are free. I have the basic, pay about €60 a month and that´s been great but I just use it like an insurance. As you can buy antibiotics etc. over the counter here, I don´t need to visit the general doctor much but I might need cheap access to a specialist some time.

Re: Health Insurance
Thats great, thanks for this info. We do go to the doctor a few times a year but not too much, and at the moment I have Exeter Friendly insurance which means I have to claim the moneyback when we go, which we never do and so it ends up costing me 20 euros per visit + medicine and the health cover which isn't a fantastic policy anyway.
One more question, you use a swipe card to pay at the doctors, but do you have to pay the 10 euros to the doctors or do Sanitas bill you for it??
Thanks again.

You are issued with a card which you use to access the Sanitas network when you need to use it. I haven't used it as yet, but I suspect that as they have all my bank details, the amount will be debited from my account should I use them. Lis48 may have first hand knowledge

Re: Health Insurance
I have got Sanitas Mundi, and last year had two hip replacements & my gall bladder removed and had excellent service from Sanitas.
I chose the Mundi option because I knew that at some point in my life I had to have bone operations, and that I could chose which surgeons that I could use apart from their list, and could chose which hospital that I went to.
They are associated with BUPA I think, whenever you move to different areas of Spain they alway's send you the book with the various Drs etc in as well.
