Is there something in place like we have in the UK for help with prescription costs, prepayment etc.

If you are registered in the Spanish NHS, prescriptions are discounted. If you are a pensioner the discount is 90% with a cap at about €8 a month. In some regions it can be even cheaper.

Looking at buying in the Torrevieja region but would probably rent first, as I will be taking my dog with me how would I go about organizing the rental property for when I arrive.

Be aware that existing conditions are not normally covered by private health insurance.

Anyone know whether U.K. and Spain have agreed anything about the UK state pension, will it rise as in UK or will it be frozen.

It has nothing to do with Spain as it is a decision purely for HMG once they leave the EU
and they have clearly stated that there will be no change.

If you happen to bank with BBVA they have a good deal with Sanitas. I pay something like €28 per month for basic coverage and have to pay a small supplement per visit but it is still pretty good value IMO (I am 50). BTW you also have to wait 6 months before you can access some things like MRI scans.

Thanks Adrian and everyone else who has submitted a reply, on a slightly different theme does anyone know if I can get Orthotic shoe insoles made as I have bad ankles and need custom insoles and shoes built up on outside.

Even my little town has two orthopedic shops and I know one of them offer that sort of service. The Spanish live longer so those shops are found in most towns and the locals have the same needs as you no doubt. You just need to seek one out near to where you settle. As regards older people, in some respects, Spain can show the UK a very clean pair of heels! (sic)

Going off topic a bit here, but having tried custom-made insoles in both the UK and Spain I actually found some orthotic insoles on Amazon that were more comfortable than any of them. They are called "Wellbeing Pro II". They improved my foot so much I was able to go hiking in the Alps a month after I started wearing them.

The insoles I have are from the hospital, granted a firm do it for them but they are truly custom so unlikely the ones off Amazon would do, but thanks its something to think about.
