Having massive problem with mail delivery
Been living in this house now for 6 weeks and we have had hardly any mail delivery.
Problem seems to lie with the rediredtion of our original rediredtion from the UK if you can get that. Visit correos regularly for lost post.Probably love us by now. We have lots of tracing numbers from royal mail but our mail has disappeared. Trying to pay bills according to memory at the mo. Everything I have sent from spain incl. some ebay stuff has all arrived to various parts of the world. Anyone have any idea where our mail might be? |

If I understand, you're urban/semi urban so I'd have thought you should have a half decent service, but the first thing I'd check is if you have the correct address. Not joking. The ayuntamiento and correos here seemed to be at odds when they introduced buzones in the campo..... giving two versions of the same address; not to mention a very similar address for another property only a few hundred metres from our buzon... so worth a very specific question or six.

Re: Having massive problem with mail delivery
We had similar problems over the years and either rented a Correos postbox, or a private mailbox service. Mail redirection doesn’t work very well in Spain. Most of our mail is now received and sent via electronic Gmail.
Sometimes Valenciano addresses do not translate correctly with Castellano, although they should. |

Re: Having massive problem with mail delivery
At least four different branches of officialdom have concocted four totally different addresses for my property.
Fortunately the local postie recognises my name and points most of it in the right direction. Should have quite a pile when I get back,....if I get back,...still snowed in up here at present. |
Re: Having massive problem with mail delivery
Mail delivery - what is that?
In 10 years we have never seen a postman! The PO box at the local Correos office works faultlessly (only €50 a year:() People in the UK complain about Royal Mail but believe me, the service is fantastic compared to Spain. |

Re: Having massive problem with mail delivery
If you are registered on the padrón, then all official mail will go to your house (assuming you have a regulation green post-box nailed to the gate). Your ordinary mail may go to an apartado or wherever you have arranged, but official mail goes to your official domicile.

almost everyone in the entire town was using one postal codes, when in fact there are lots for different areas one day they just decided to enforce the true codes & not deliver anything with the wrong code on it to be fair they did advertise they were doing it, but it caused huge problems for a lot of people for a while the language school I was working for did a huge mail shot - all with the one postal code about 90% of it was returned marked 'wrong address' |

hola todos!!!!
jst wanted t update this if anyone was reading (!), finally got an answer from royal mail redirections. When we moved at the end of November and changed our redirection address to here in valencia, the prats at royal mail didnt delete the old UK to Spain redirection address and therefore, all of our mail has been going to the welsh witch  in Aspe, the old boot we rented the house from. Anyone have any ideas how i can get the mail back off her? |

On second thoughts, stay out of the way and get your wife and daughter to speak to the Welsh lady. |

Re: Having massive problem with mail delivery
and royal mail couldnt give a moneys either, and its their mistake.

Re: Having massive problem with mail delivery
Probably not much help to you, but always keep copies of keys when you leave a property. Never know when you need to return.
Most properties have post boxes with locks on, so copy a key and keep it. when we leave a property we continue to return for mail upto 2 months later. Never had a problem. Had some funny moments though - block of flats with secure main door (couldn't copy the key) and cctv. Couldn't get in, so just rang a few buzzers saying "publicidad". Entry no problem. Another one - no one wanted to leave us in, so said "policia" - door opens immediately. rofl. You have to play the game!! fun times. Depending on the property type, just drive/walk up, as brazen and confident as poss, open letter box and retrieve mail. I doubt if you'll get any mail returned by chatting to an ex landlord. We used to live near a building site - regularly, pickups casually arrive in middle of day, jump over fence or force it, load up and drive away. Its hilarious watching. The thieves haven't a worry in the world. Obviously as a foreigner, there is a risk in doing anything untowards against the lovely spanish ppl, so be careful and wise in ur decisions. |

nah wouldnt work, and no shes not on the internet anyway. ......and our dislike of the whole shaboodle connected with our breif stay in Apse, renders any politeness invalid. not going to go into some huge story online, but they dont like us, we dont like them, you can imagine the scenario, so for our mail to have gone to them instead of us, horrifies us. It means they have access to our bank statements, credit card statements, the flippin lot. I have been as polite as i could be with them and have asked for the mail back but no response. For all i know they could have used our mail when they ran out of toilet paper!
All you can do is check your bank details very carefully, though I doubt that people you know would misuse them. The next step would be to try and get senders to resend your mail. Lastly, I hope you never fall out with Valencia, it’s my favourite city in the world. I’m not too bothered about Plymouth, or Aspe, or, at a push, Wales, but Valencia; that’s special. Be warned. |
