hmm, looks like la sexta are the only ones then this year - and by the looks of it, just one match a weekend. boo. dont understand why canal 9 arent showing the valencia matches this year, well i can, obviously gol tv has got most of the rights, and theyre ppv'ing everything. great time to do it, when everyones struggling with the crisis - just charge people for everything, why not. its getting just like the uk......

I don't know this for sure, but with the big clubs splashing out millions (Real on Ronaldo, Kaka, Benzema and Alonso, Barcelona on Ibrahomivic, a 200 million contract for Messi, plus they're after Fabregas) they're probably trying to screw more money out of the tv coverage to pay for it all. Other clubs in La Liga are no doubt also trying to wring more money out of tv coverage so they can afford to hang on to their top players. It's surprising how much a small bar has to pay to receive pay-per-view football, but a lot of them do it as otherwise they'd lose a lot of regulars. A sign of the times...

spanish la liga matches rights were all over the place in the last few years due to contractual rights, nonpayment, disputes etc

i thnk GOL and la sexta have the rights this year (i thnk they are owned by the same company), but some local (ie valencia and madrid) matchjes may be available on other channels (canal9), and D+ has a few on PPV

Not la liga, but the Barcelona-Inter game midweek was on CanalSur this week, regional tv in Andalucia.

Yes there is still tons of free football on TV.

La sexta has 2 La Liga games a week at the weekend
TVE has the national team games and one champions league game each week
Some of the regional channels show Champions League games e.g. I watched Barca Inter on CanalSur
TVE/Teledeporte show 1 or 2 English premier league games each week
I saw a Uefa league game advertised but cant remember what channel it was on

More than enough for me. So I want be subscribing to Canal plus or Gol TV where they have even more

Football alert - Canal Sur has Real Madrid - Marseille tonight.

Other than that it's digi+ or pay tv, it seems

There is a Dutch channel that we can get that shows a lot of the big games, Spanish and UK, also showed the real match tonight.
