FABULOUS !! Never heard of this place before and looked at location on google maps. ..no where near where we are in Spain. Think that would be a great place to fly to from UK for a long weekend. Thanks for the wonderful photos, yet another one on my "to do" list.
Cheers

Re: The Hanging Houses of Cuenca
This very weird.
I read a book a number of years ago written by C.J Sansom, based on a prisoner held in the Franco years.
The book ends in Cuenca, i`ve never been or searched/looked at photo`s.
Then I see yours of the bridge, which is the same mental picture I had of the area from reading the book.
The bridge is called San Pablo.
Very odd feeling I had looking at the photo.
Anyway great book, looks a great place.

Your photos remind me of where I was last weekend, in Toledo. Big old town, set on the top of a hill. Lots of colourful streets.

Cuenca is a good half way stopping over place if you are driving from Cádiz to Barcelona, avoiding Madrid. But make sure you stay in the old town as the new part is awful. Also visit the petrified forest ("Ciudad encantada") a forest of all sorts of strange shapes each given names e.g. the elephant, just outside Cuenca which is wonderful though you need a car.
