Greenhouses
 

Hi everyone,

relocating to Albunol/Albondon I could't help wondering if the greenhouses will stay of disappear eventually. Some look already as if they are abandoned, all you see is shredded plastic and weeds.

I heard that the EU money was only meant to build them, not to maintain them.

Does anyone know more?

we've been looking around the same sort of area and what we hear, so far, is that a lot of the greenhouses around Albunol are going to make way for a golf course. Some, apparantly, have already been cleared away and others are yet to go.

I heard they were cutting down on licences for golf courses in Andalucia, to stop them being used as a gateway to housing developements ?

yes, I think you could be right there, I read about that too.
Would you know where I can find out more about this?

Do you know if there are plans for the building of holiday accomodations at these coasts?
From the plastic to the concrete, I don't know which is worse.

Absolutely correct - there are already laws in place to limit the amount of housing that can be built around a golf course and they make it pretty uneconomic to develop one.

There are plans afoot to restrict the building even further limiting it to hotels and leisure facilities only.

Many local councils still seem to be ignoring these laws and proposing huge developments which will never be approved by the Junta.

The sooner they remove all planning decisions from these tin pot local mayors the better!

I have found a property I like very much but I'm not in a position to do anything about it until our house in Seville sells. Despite charging massive commissions, estate agents dont seem to be in any sort of a hurry to earn their pay. This wouldn't be the first house we've lost while we've waited for ours to sell. We keep everything crossed and hope for the best.

I'm not sure what is planned for the Costa Tropical but aparantly there's been a massive injection of cash for redevelopment.

Really - that's news to me.

The area is already over developed and in places like Almunecar the new town plan is never going to get approved by the Junta as it looks for a 100% increase in housing when the law now says that 30% is the maximum increase allowed.

Not to mention the 3 golf courses with 2000 houses each and a marina!

When are these idiotic mayors going to realise that they cannot do just what they wish any more - and as a result of their moronic attitude a decent development plan will be years away.

I cannot say that any of greenhouses have yet gone, there is some disagreement over costs as yet, the owners want money for land they have "aquired" over the years and it needs an agreed majority which has not yet been reached.

Only one has been demolished and that is at the entrance to La Rabita, in fact Saliplant have opened a new distribution centre close to the entrance to Albuñol.

sorry, I don't know how to cut and paste quotes from previous posts into new posting. Replying to Fred James 'really - thats news to me', I got it from an estate agents website so it's anyone's guess how reliable it is. It must be true - we all know how honest estate agents are :sneaky: Anyway, this is what they say.............

N.B. This region has just been given 250,000,000 Euros for improvements to the tourist infrastructure, roads, new hotels, apartments, golf courses etc.

My own take is that the greenhouse problem will get worse. As has been mentioned above, there are grants to erect them. What people do is erect them, get the grant, pay the fine for having no permission, and then just leave them to disintegrate.

I personally don't think the problem will go away in the near future.

Unless of course another water-guzzling project like a golf course comes to the driest place in the whole of Europe.

I believe that future Golf Courses in Andalucia will NOT be allowed to be part of a residential developmant, they must be open public courses.
