But I've been here about 15 years so far (full time) and so far, it's the only place I've ever lived that I like better with each passing year. Just keeps getting better.

Hi all. I posted yesterday on a query relating to recommendations for schools in Galicia and areas of Galicia. I'm Irish, my husband is Spanish, we have two young school-age children that we want to send to Spanish public school for a year initially to improve their Spanish. Although my husband's family live in Madrid we love Galicia. Another poster didn't recommend Galicia for Spanish immersion due to more Gallego being spoken than Spanish. We'd like to live in a Spanish area where we can get involved in the community and where the children can make friends and play. We don't like big cities but like to be not too far away from one. We'd like a house rather than an apartment and would be renting our house here. Any suggestions? Have you a young family or children in a local school? Would you recommend where you live? Thanks.

Although normally I would recommend living in the Valencia Province due to the people etc in your case I would say avoid it because the main language spoken is Valencian.

Having traveled throughout Spain extensively I would recommend either Madrid or Salamanca to learn good Spanish for your children. Most other areas including our in Andalucia have very strong accents. It would be like learning English in Cornwall or Oxford!

No idea how strict schools are in Galicia. If you come to Ireland as a foreigner, you also have Irish and most younger kids adapt and others are just exempt from the language if it's too much.
We live in Ireland and have a place near the Costa Brava not too far from Girona, but then you have Catalan. If the kids are still young enough and your husband is Spanish, I don't see a problem.

You don't really need to know tbh. But it's simply somebody that is obviously trying to get their post count up to 5 quickly, so that they can then post a link for whatever they are trying to advertise.
