When we moved here we wondered why the town had such a very deep levy running through it - after the first expereince of a gota fria - we quickly learned why!

The factor that determines the severity of the Gota Fria is the sea temperature as that affects the rate of evaporation of water into the atmosphere.

As this has been an above average summer the sea temperature is higher than usual so evaporation will be high.

What goes up must come down!

Just got back from taking Mother on a run to Javea and the journey back was awful - thunder, lightening and roads flooded - had to stop a couple of times 'cause I couldn't see the road.

Jeez, nothing I like better than a bloody good thunderstorm and I'm stuck up here 3000 km away.
Probably be back to that boring sunshine every day when I return.

Just hope my house is still there............
