Re: Golf Club
Hi.
I am the Club Professional, Chris Truter, and this February I will have been running my own small Golf Academy business here in Costa Esuri for 6 years, almost since the Golf Course opened.
Hopefully I will be here for many more years after making my home here with my family.
So no worries about having to pay the self-employed Pro!
As in golf as in life on Costa Esuri, never lose your sense of humour or your positivity.

Re: Golf Club
Ok, for all of you out there here is an update re the Golf Club management.
As of this morning a new Management Company has taken over the running of Costa Esuri Golf Club. They are called Esuri River Golf and over the next few weeks will be assessing the situation on site. The present contract for running the Bar and Restaurant expires on the 18th of May and it is not yet known whether this will be renewed. We expect to have more news in 2-3 weeks time, regards Bryony

As mentioned on another thread, there is a huge opportunity IMHO to create a wonderful social centre to Esuri using the club and all its facilities, which are a lot, as long as the new managers have the right vision. It would be a good business opportunity with the proper management and strategy. Win-Win.
Also there are strong rumours, pretty well substantiated, for the past few weeks about Jags being taken over by new management. They are apparently trying to get the right approvals, in place. Not easy though! That also hopefully gives us some good things to 'pipe-dream' about! For a change!

PS I heard ERG were Argentinian - lets hope they bring over some good steaks If so we are getting pretty spoiled in the area for a good steak.

I've been thinking about this since I heard. This is potentially good news (I live in hope ) It means there is someone out there willing to take over and I suppose invest in this as a concern.

The people looking to reopen Jags are well qualified legally to handle the paperwork and take the case properly to the town Hall - and then the town hall have to decide which route is taken. They have to consider the needs of everybody.
I hope a solution can be found where the bistro re-opens - as it can provide a much needed service to all the residents who have little choice....
A better CE = more residents = more taxes for the Town Hall!!

Yep heard that too. Whilst I want to see much more social options on CE, I can understand why the neighbours are objecting from their personal pov.

Great news that the new people want to improve things. We need it.
Lets hope that the bistro comes on line also for the summer.
Great news for Watford.. So you 'shall not 'be moved' for a while..... Good luck!
Jon
PS best of luck for Angela and Vanya with their new and upcoming families, and their future... Lovely people.

Re: Golf Club
Quick piece of info for golfers who were not around on Wednesday (9th) :- As Esuri River Golf & Tentadero Esuri are separate entities, from last Wednesday there is a new arrangement for anyone playing in the Guadiana Masters. Instead of paying your green fees and food together it must now be done separately and its up to you to let TE know if you want food, good luck

Re: Golf Club
There have been some big changes to the club, the doors have been placed in to the new resto at the end. The doors have serving hatches, which we joked could double up as confessional windows! The bar and bar area have been spruced up and new furniture etc.
I have had mixed reviews of the golf club (+ve and -ve). The new management have a learning curve to go through, IMHO, in hospitality and running a bar/resto. I spoke to the new boss and thankfully his objective is to make it the social centre of CE, and has plans to do so through this initial 'teething process' (my term). Changes are also anticipated in January, that should also be good if they happen. We can all afford to give them time to set up and start running fully. I know of several people that have given constructive feedback as well.
This awful crisis has hit us all, not in the least with a loss of 60-70% in property values, and none of the promised facilities in place in CE. Its rightfully called a 'golf club' IMO, but actually it was always a PUBLIC club initially owned by the same people that did the golf. Golf members enjoyed additional facilities to the public, with a members area and discounts at the bar. Now with the crisis - and the failure of Aymerich, it's split into 2 separate entities, and some golfers may feel that they have lost some of the benefits. The new management are still honouring the members discount however which I would think was the main thing. But dont know for sure as I'm not a golfer.
Let's hope that this will become what it always should have been - a great place to socialise with friends: Members/non members; Golfers/non-golfers; Residents/non-residents. If so it will be a winner for the majority. Something we need in this bleeding crisis!
So fingers crossed that we will see this new social centre come into being, at the golf club, I am sure there is good money to make if they get it right.
The 'new Jags' i.e Vista Verde, seems to be coming on well, some hurdles to cross, but some great feedback coming at this stage. I am even daring to hope!! But we have all been burned by the system here so I am not holding my breath though. 'Once bitten.....'. (errr 'many times bitten'!!) But I am actually more positive than for a while now. Good that 'the local' i.e the shop, will continue as well.
So good news perhaps/maybe/potentially/possibly/hopefully for 2014! For places to go and have fun on the doorstep.
Jon
