Re: Gibraltar 2
Gibraltar’s Conservative MEP Julie Girling said echoed the statement and said Gibraltar’s position under the EU treaties was clear.
“Gibraltar is included in aviation measures,” she said.
“EU citizens using Gibraltar Airport should not be denied EU rights because Spain chooses to pursue a sovereignty dispute.”
“My constituents in Gibraltar are as much members of the EU single market as constituents anywhere else in the South West.”

Re: Gibraltar 2
Former Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Ángel Moratinos has called on whoever forms the next government in Spain to immediately restore the Tripartite Forum for Dialogue. Speaking at a conference in San Roque last night, Mr Moratinos contrasted what he saw as the steady progress that had been made historically in trying to resolve the Gibraltar question with the inertia of the past four years under the Partido Popular. He lamented the decision of the PP to not honour the Cordoba Agreements, which he signed on Spain’s behalf in 2006.

A debate on Gibraltar and its relations with Spain will be held next month in the House of Commons, called by the Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Gibraltar. Jack Lopresti MP told GBC it is an opportunity to air issues relating to the Rock, such as maritime incursions, border delays and airspace disputes – adding the UK should consider sending back the Spanish ambassador if such problems continue

The British government will be protesting another incursion by the Spanish navy ship Vencedora. The incident coincided with the arrival of two RAF Hawks, arriving on the Rock to commemorate the seventy fifth anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Govt increases tuna quota in bid for ‘scientific data'
by Gabriella Peralta
Gibraltar has increased its Bluefin tuna quota by three tonnes to gather additional scientific information about the fishery before the season closes. The quota limits the amount of fish that can be legally caught which had originally been set at 10 tonnes. But that first quota was filled this week even though the season, which started last June 15, does not end until October 15.

But it does confirm tbat the waters are not British as the species is protected in British waters.
Research is the so called reason the Japanese and icelanders use for fishing for whales and no one believes them .

I would've thought you'd give up on the fish story by now.

Re: Gibraltar 2
Travelling across the Atlantic Ocean, large schools of Bluefin tuna race to their spawning grounds in the warm seas of the Mediterranean around Sicily and the Adriatic. For thousands of years, since Phoenician times, the Bluefin tuna have been caught off the coast of the Algarve;
The industry took off big time from then on, in fact there weren’t enough hands to catch and sell so many Bluefins!

I know this is the Gib. thread but I just wanted to bring to your attention there is a ‘humane’ way and a barbaric way to fish for Blue Fin.

Re: Gibraltar 2
The irony is that Gibraltar is probably the single smallest harvester of them all, yet for some reason is the most "guilty".
Somehow I don't really believe the fish story has anything to do with fish.
