And a majority of those in Gibraltar who voted, voted Remain, didn't they Fred? For them, the reasons to remain in the EU outweighed the disadvantages....

The delays at the Gibraltar frontier have been happening frequently since it was re-opened in 1982 and have continued despite Spain and Gibraltar being in the EU
Yes, Spain and Gibraltar were in the EU, but one was in Schengen and one wasn't, yes or no? Schengen border rules applied then, I presume.... Isn't that why Gibraltar joining Schengen would be a good idea, reducing the border issues...

However at the moment it is the local Spanish economy that is suffering whilst giving a boost to Gibraltar's economy
That's a Brexit bonus, yes?

Fred knows that Gibraltar has never been in Schengen nor the Customs Union.

Delays at the border at times were inevitable.

Yeah, but people like us who know that, aren't the people he's aiming his propaganda at.....

Gibraltar Residents will not need an International Driving Permit for Spain after the 30th of June.

The UK Government has been engaged with individual countries and has reached agreement on the continued recognition of driving licences on a reciprocal basis. The permit is still required for Croatia, Cyprus, France and Italy

There is no requirement for vehicle number plates to be changed from an EU format to a non-EU format in order to drive a vehicle in Spain and in the rest of Europe. However the Spanish authorities may enforce requirements with respect to Gibraltar registered vehicles having to display GBZ stickers.

British Airway's CityFlyer operated its inaugural service from London City Airport to Gibraltar on Friday afternoon.

The new service is operating twice weekly until the end of September on Fridays and Mondays with the more compact Embraer E190 aircraft.

I can't get my head round that. Why would you be required to change to a non EU format to drive in the EU ?

And all we ask, Madam Chairman, is for the opportunity to exercise the right to self-determination, just as many of the countries represented here today have done before us.

I submit, Distinguished Representatives, that the mandate of your committee is clear.

Your mandate is the decolonisation of the remaining territories on your list of Non-Self-Governing Territories in accordance with the wishes of their inhabitants.

In the times in which we live there can be no other way.

This is no longer 1704 or 1713.

The Government of Gibraltar very much hopes that a new treaty can now be concluded. Today, Gibraltar makes a positive economic contribution to Spain.

Fifteen thousand people live in Spain and work in Gibraltar.

Most are Spanish citizens.

Gibraltar imports some 1.8 billion dollars’ worth of goods from Spain annually. And Gibraltar accounts for some 20% of the GDP of the neighbouring Spanish region.

Does this not refer to the EU stars on number plates?

All of that might be true but if "la roca" where in Spanish control all of that would add to the Spanish economy. Those numbers could backfire on you by helping turn the tide ( opinion) on the mainland on who should own that little roca..

When Spain give up their morrocan enclaves they will surly go for La roca.

If Spain was to take back Gibraltar then the money would leave, the gaming companies would be gone, the tourist appeal would be gone and Gibraltar would become an extension La Linea and have the same appeal.

The proposed deal for Gib joining the Schengen area with Spain taking responsibility for the boarders at the airport and port thus allowing the removal of the current boarder between Gib and Spain is a win win situation for all concerned and will improve both Gibraltar and the Campo Gibraltar area for everyone concerned and will give the western Costa de sol a new airport, the sooner this is completed the better.

It adds to the Spanish economy now to the tune of:- And Gibraltar accounts for some 20% of the GDP of the neighbouring Spanish region

If Gib was ever to fall into Spanish hands they would destroy this asset with their CORRUPTION.

Because it's an EU format number plate but not an EU country, it'd be like driving round with "USA" under the EU flag. Spanish law as well as a couple of other EU countries said it wasn't legal to do this, until this agreement.

In Spain you must now have a GB sticker whatever it says on your numberplate.
