The simple answer is to make the Spanish frontier the Schengen frontier as it is at present and has been since the inception of Schengen.

The Captain of the Port says an international movement to ensure seafarers are vaccinated could mean a lot of income for Gibraltar, which has been highlighted as a potential hub.

The more Spain claims Gibraltar, the more the Moroccans claim Ceuta and Melilla

It is a matter of fact that the Spanish monarchy officially and voluntarily ceded Gibraltar to Great Britain under the Utrecht Treaty of 1713. So, in legal terms, they have no claim to Gibraltar.

The additional problem Spain faces is that, their claim to Gibraltar ignites the Moroccan response to Ceuta and Melilla, which are Spanish through military occupation only.
That's the problem Spain faces, that the more they shout about Gibraltar being Spanish, the more the Moroccans will shout about Ceuta and Melilla.
It is well known how Spain pick on any issue, such as development of Gibraltar's shoreline, to try and stir up sentiments in Spain about Gibraltar, which sentiment is not that strong - ask the thousands who earn a living by working in, and trading with Gibraltar, those who argue that where it not for British Gibraltar, they would be penniless.

But why are there so many Spanish workers crossing the border to work each day? Surely it´s not like Britain where the residents don´t want to do things like decorating or plumbing.

It is very expensive to live in Gibraltar and those Brits who do are far too posh to work in menial jobs.

There are a bunch of people marching in NI who want a simple answer as well. Perhaps they haven't thought through what happens at the border as a result or perhaps they just don't care.

How would they be penniless?? Maybe UK penny less but they would have EUR pennies (cents) in their pockets.

Their own forum would be the UK forum.
It does seem like it is part of the Spain forum which it should not be.. I wonder if the Islas Malvinas have their own forum or are on Argentina's'.

Well this weekend is a bank holiday in Gib. We British who do not continually knock the UK celebrate the Queens birthday.

Many Gibraltarians and other residents enjoy shopping, wining and dining and overnight stays in Spain which in these times of lockdowns and I assume hardships for Spanish businesses must be most welcome.

So what do the Spanish authorities do? They create an artificial blockage at the frontier.

The queue yesterday and today has remained at around 90 minutes.

The Spanish businesses must be celebrating having such intelligent politicians

I think the brits forced the Spanish hands by voting to leave the EU.

These intelligent politicians are just following the EU rules.

yes they have to be seen to be doing their bit to disrupt the UK as much as they can so that eventually the UK will vote to be more in line or even rejoin the EU. If they are too nice to the UK and Britain becomes better off from leaving, then its just a green light to all over countries wanting to leave. Even if it harms some EU countries this seems to be the price they have to pay in order to save the Union.

Yes, what Johnny foreigner needs to do is know his place and make an exception to the Schengen rules to celebrate the Queen's birthday. Perfectly reasonable.

Unfortunately they are not and never have followed EU rules which is one of my reasons for voting leave.

The delays at the Gibraltar frontier have been happening frequently since it was re-opened in 1982 and have continued despite Spain and Gibraltar being in the EU

However at the moment it is the local Spanish economy that is suffering whilst giving a boost to Gibraltar's economy
