I have just posted on the Guardia Civil shooting thread the following in response to a similar claim

The RN is also visiting a port on mainland Spain, normal procedure again.

I wonder if they can look forward to a ticker-tape welcome on this particular occasion ? :cool:

If a RN ship visits Spain before she come to Gib then she will have to go into a neutral port between Spain and arriving in Gib or the Spanish will cry.

I'm not sue if this applies in the reverse direction.
