getting a christmas present to Spain?
Greetings Forumers,
I'd like to get a parcel down to Torrevieja in time for Christmas for my father.
I've had poor experience with Royal Mail and DHL is pretty expensive.
Do you have any suggestions for the best/cheapest way to send a parcel - not that heavy - maybe 2/3 kilos at most. If you've found Royal Mail to work let me know because it was with the service to France that I had problems.
Thanks in advance and hope you're warmer than we are here in Sheffield.

You may have left it a bit late to guarantee delivery before christmas.
The cost depends on size as well as weight and you can check their prices online. See here > http://www.parcelforce.com/portal/pw/home

My friend in the UK sent me a parcel last week via Royal Mail and it arrived in under a week.

I have done some online shopping in the past week and delivery been just a few days, that is Royal Mail.
Letter posted to UK last Tuesday was delivered there on Saturday, so 4 days.

Personally, I love the RM's service, but I'm not is Spain! A keyboard sent by Amazon on a Friday was delivered next morning. If I upload photos to an online printer before 4pm, they are delivered first thing next morning. Total turnaround time, well under 24 hours.

Don't blame Royal Mail for spanish delivery failures. Well known fact that most xmas stuff isn't delivered here unless it's registered and tracked. The last tracked packet I received from the UK arrived in Málaga airport at 6.35pm. next day at 7am. left airport in van, I received it 24 hours later!

Panorama exposed the organised theft which is prevalent at some UK sorting offices. They are not really interested in your christmas pressents.

Re: getting a christmas present to Spain?
Without a doubt it'll be the UK end, I can't see the excellent Spanish mail system ever getting it wrong! In another forum there are loads of complaints of stuff ordered never arriving in Spain, especially from the States, but that's probably RM's fault as well. The fact that people have to order from Amazon UK is because Amazon cannot trust the Spanish postal service and refuse to set up there, but there is an Amazon France, Germany, UK etc.

Items I've ordered from online shops have never got lost. It's only the personal mail which seems to go astray, for some reason.

If I want to send pressies to the UK I order online from a UK company and have them sent direct. DHL and Fedex are the only ones to use for spain. I think the problem is with the post depots, anyone can wander in and out. Extranjeros post in both directions is a target. Some Netherlands co's refuse to deliver to spain.

We use the post a lot and the only thing that was lost was a packet sent from a Brit card shop when we first arrived here.
I have even received a letter from DWP via Malta, wtf was going on there ?

DWP seem to post stuff from all over, we gad stuff posted in Sweden as well as Malta, I suspect that is because they get a cheaper deal than the Royal Mail.
