I wonder how the tax works if you don't spend 183 days in Spain and don't draw an income from it, but your main home is here and you don't spend 183 days in any one country. It would be so much easier if all European countries just came under one central tax scheme.

It usually come down to where your income comes from.

If you, say, have a UK pension then the UK will probably tax it unless you can prove you are tax resident somewhere else and paying tax on it.

If your income comes from sources that were not taxed at source it is quite possible to become a "fiscal nomad" and not pay any tax anywhere - I wish!

I pay my pension tax at source in the UK, due to an EU agreement on govt pensions, saves me a fortune
