Gestor? in Torrevieja.

I need to get my driving license renewed shortly so can anyone recommend a gestor in Torrevieja that can
sort it all out for me.
While I'm at I need to get a plastic version of my NIE (Permanent residency) so if anyone can recommend
someone that can do this for me in Torrevieja I would be grateful.
Kind Regs

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

I was recently researching for a friend of mine these are centros de reconocimiento de conductores, ie where you have to take the 'health check' to renew a licence and they can process the paperwork for you as well.
  1. TORREVIEJA Datos de contacto: Dirección: Ramón Gallud 23 Teléfono: 966 706 565

    Dirección: Pedro Lorca 6 Teléfono: 966 704 760

    Dirección: Caballero De Rodas 32 Teléfono: 965 713 858

However, they cannot renew residency but will be cheaper than a gestor and you need to take the health check process. Assuming you have residency I would wait for the new process to be implemented as it looks like we all have to re-register anyway. See other recent posts on this topic.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

Thanks for the Info, I have to renew my license because I am coming up to 70 in 3 months time.
As for the permanent residency thing I understand that we already have it in paper form but everything is being changed to
a card with a chip etc. Called a TIE or TID. I will try and make an appointment on the National police website but if it is a long way
off, I will look at some of the Lawyers offering these services. Recently I bought a S/H car in Cartagena and did the process with
a local Gestor there. Incredibly quick, 5 working days later I received all the docs in Torrevieja.
Thanks again

Yes, I posted about TIE (Tarjeta identificacion Extranjero) card, but where does it say it will come with a chip?

I read it in an English version of applying for the permanent tarjeta. At least that is what I understood. Probably
got it wrong but I'll check it out again tomorrow..... It didn't come from the Expats forum....

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

You can't apply for the TIE yet as nothing has been finalised until after Brexit. A paper version of the certificado will be sufficient. The psicotécnico Office will test your response time and eyesight. You will need photos for them and pay 48 €. You can try and do it in English but depending who works there a translator might be good idea. Once you have results ( no one fails!) You need to make an appointment with ttrafico in Alicante and fill out forms in Spanish. You will need to give them both your UK photo licence and paper one. They do not need to do the cita in English. It's a courtesy so take a translator or pay a gestor to do it for you. The gestor will charge around 100 €. You will get a temporary licence on paper and will receive your Spanish one after 2 to 3 months

Many of these centres will do the renewal for you so you do not need to go to traffico.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

I already have a Spanish licence, I have to renew it and I wasn't au fait with the area,
and I try to keep out of Torrevieja city as much as possible because of the parking etc.
The TIE isn't just for Brits so Brexit might just complicate things for us? Because we have
permanent residency since 2007, according to our recent chat with the consulate staff
meeting here in TV, where we were told by them that we should just get the plastic version.
We can get by in Spanish without translators, here it is relatively easy after the Andalusian
and Catalan where we lived previously.
I will go this morning to the Pedro Lorca address given by Spainrico, (Thanks Rob)
Armed with Passport, Current license, NIE, Valid Padron, new photos and Money!!

Parking not too bad these days or park opposite the casino in the large flat carpark. Good luck.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

I Actually parked in Patricia Perez and went to the Address you posted as Ramon Gallud 23.
It is no longer there having moved. The New address is C/Ramon Gallud 11.
Only NIE and License is required, Normally it costs 40E but because I am doing it 3 months
early it will cost me an extra 20E, I need to do this as I am not sure when I will need to
return to the UK for my Mother. I have the appointment for the tests on Friday PM.
Renewal is for 5 years and takes one month.
Thanks again.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

Thanks for the update. Sorry about the address error, only researched it from the net recently. I am going soon with a friend who is 'senior' I notice you say 5-year renewal - normally it is now 10 (like all of EU) so I assume seniors are given less.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

Yes, I was told before, about 5 years ago, that from age 70 the licenses were only renewed for 2 years, so I was pleasantly surprised with 5 years! They were doing several other golden oldies while I was waiting so I wouldn't think they make mistakes over this.
I was talking to another (70+) Brit the other day who had renewed his UK license, 3 years he said!
BTW at the address it is appartment 1A

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

OK just for completeness, I received my new license on the 8th ie. 2 weeks after the procedure above. The license is valid for 3 (Three) years just like in the UK, not 5 as the agency stated.
the license was sent to me directly by the DGT in Alicante.
Thanks to everyone.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

As a foot note, the only document required was the old license and NIE. The photo was done by the Medic doing the reflexes test.

Re: Gestor? in Torrevieja.

I have my friend booked in next week - as he is 'senior' the lady explained to me that the renewal duration is based upon the results of the test ie the better you do the longer they give you.
