Gandia
 

We have been planning a move to Javea but recently have noticed that prices seem to be a lot more reasonable around Gandia. Does anyone on the forum live in that area? We don't want to be in the country but need good access to restaurants, etc. We've been to Gandia beach but not the city, any opinions welcome! Many thanks :)

Hi, I have a home in Daimuz which is in between Gandia and Oliva and found this the ideal spot as it's only a short drive to Gandia town and the beaches also the same for Oliva plus Daimuz has a great beach and restaurants and bars and there is some more villages nearby within walking distance. Gandia is to built up for me but nice for holidays, so I recommend you look around this area first.

Hi we have a flat in Gandia and can recommend the area. The city is active all year round, whereas the beech area can be almost dead in the winter. There are transport links in the city area, buses and trains + taxi. Sure if you wish to avoid town life then it may not be for you. For us it is ideal plenty of shops and cafes. Lots of places to hang out and windowshop, yes there are plenty of distractions, better than getting bored!

I'm based in Oliva, about 7 kms or so from Gandia. Usually shop in Gandia for anything other than food stuffs. It is quite built up there but just a bit inland you have La Drova and Barx if you are looking for something quieter. Gandia Playa is quite busy in the summer but has a long long promenade, lots of bars and restaurants for a night out.

Oliva is a lot quieter, and is historically an agricultural town. Excellent market on Friday mornings. The beach is quieter but also excellent blue flag. Theres the old town with an assortment of town houses for sale, or a new development on the hill behind Oliva which is built amongst the orange groves and pine forests called Tossal Gros.

Between Oliva and Gandia are a number of towns which have become joined together, all have a beach area and various new developments along there as well as old houses.

In general its a lovely area and close to both Alicante and Valencia airport also. I'd recommend it! :)
