fuengirola and the plague of LOOKIE-LOOKIE

Always amazes me that the hounding of these pests trying to sell fake Plop to us is not treated more serious!
Half way through a meal/conversation/drink, or even half asleep on sunbed... they walk up to you spreading their goods ""cheap-cheap"" """ Half-price""..."no thank you, i do not need a Wooden Elephant! . or Trainers or Sun Glasses!!!

Most of the restaurants near me don't allow them access.

"You wanna massage" is a new one for me. "Does that come with a happy ending?"

I lived in Netherlands for a while and find if I answer them in Dutch or German they don't give me nearly as much hassle as when I answer in English. Maybe you could try that?

What's more frustrating is the fact that they are not allowed to sell fake items (or any items come to that) yet the authorities seem to do little about it. It did make me laugh the other day when I read that Cala Estancia (OK, not Fuengirola I know but you will, I'm sure, appreciate the sentiment) is outlawing smoking on the beach in an attempt to reduce the number of butts in the sand. But who on earth is going to police this if they can't do anything about the dog fouling/looky looky men/massage ladies/mugging prostitutes etc.. that Mallorca already suffers from. No point in having these rules if the chances of being caught is next to zero.

What you don't like, others may. Fact is that tourists are buying from them, otherwise they would all go home.
In any case, they are trying to make a living in a relatively decent way.
Maybe we should focus on things that really affect us and leave the authorities deal with them?

I agree. Live and let live. At least they aren't openly begging on the streets. Turn them away with a smile. There are many here, mostly from Senegal, but they're slowly integrating.

To be fair yes they are a bit of a pest when you are eating but my experience is a polite no and they go on their way.

What has the actions of one person got to do with street sellers interrupting your meal or sun-baking? If you're judging all on the actions of one, maybe British people shouldn't be allowed to live in Spain because some of them commit crimes!
