Fuel Duty & Ryanair
 

Just seen on the news that in response to the new fuel duty starting on 1st February, Ryanair will not allow passengers to fly if they have not paid the extra 5GBP duty in advance!!! Surely this is a breach of contract and they could be sued.

Don't you mean Insurance tax ? , Easyjet have e mailed eyeryone who has booked with them to ask for the extra money , Ryanair i believe have told the british government to stick it !

No Glynis is right, I've just seen the same thing on the news, and it affects us.

Apparently if you haven't paid the extra fuel tax by the night before your flight you can't fly.
They are supposed to be sending an email to everyone asking for the extra before you go, but we won't be near a computer at that time so guess it will mean a costly phone call to them!

Yes , sorry Government ' green ' tax , but believe it is Easyjet not Ryanair .

It seems that it is not just the two airlines talked about here. It is the whole industry.

We cant understand the government's policy. Taxing airlines a so called 'Green Tax'. then allowing airports to expand. If they really wanted to stop/cut down on the amount of people flying then don't expand the airports. BTW how will this tax be used to improve emissions?

I have a flight booked with Easy Jet for March, have not had any email as yet for extra payment, will wait and see

All the airlines except BA (who say they will absorb the tax) are charging the "green tax". All have different takes on when and how to pay - you need to check their web sites to make sure. £5 per person each way.
Lot of ccomplaintsin the British Media about how the governments introduced it, but as its a government tax. The airlines are allowed to pass it on without breach of contract, etc.

Isn't it just one way, i.e £5 per person, as the (much lower) taxes coming back are set by Spain?

Just seen the news , Jet2 are automatically taking the extra cost from passengers , believe it is just one way , but as usual on the news they get loads of sounbites but don't answer any of the questions . Will apply to all flights from Feb 01 but doesn't say if or when airlines included this extra cost in their prices , if you book this week is it included ? , the implementation is really poorly thought out.

Your right it's £5 per flight extra from a Birtish airport - the last I booked for Feb was to Derry, hence £5 each way.
Further to my comments about looking at the individual web sites - most now appear to make no reference.

If you look at the costs for the flights and go to break down on the taxes you'll see that they are now included - Air Passenger Duty or on Ryanair "Government Tax".
As you say "the implementation is really poorly thought out" - how typically Gordon, wait till his PM!

She won´t need to pay it as it doesn´t come into force until 1st February, so there will be another 7 euros to spend on her daughter!

The thing is though, my mummy is a member of the SKI club! ( spending the kids inheritanace). She spoils her grandchildren and my big treat is that she comes out to see us every three weeks.
glynis, do you know the shop monopoly in chicalana? Is it easy to find and is it worth a visit from el puerto, i need chocolate button, ovaltine and tinned rice pudding?
