Frutas Secos
 

Does anyone know where I can buy Frutos Secos in England, or know of anyone who would send some bags over for me, I will of course pay for postage.... thanks. Jan x

Lidl in Spain do a bag of dried fruit - maybe that's available in the UK.

What kind of frutos secos??? The only ones I cannot find in the UK are "pipas" with shell (sunflower or pumpkin). Most of the others such as "kikos" or "habas fritas" I found at Holland & Barrett.

The Lidl product is dried fruit - peach, apricots, apple pineapple etc not the dried seeds etc.

In Spain we generally call frutos secos things such as pipas, pistachios, almonds, walnuts, chestnut, hazelnuts ... they normally have shells. They are naturally dry (less than 50% water), which is why we call them "secos". Custom and taste have added things such as habas fritas, kikos, crsps and other man made items to this lot, mainly salted.. we also call them "guarrerías". Or "chuches" if they are sweet.

The other ones you mention really are frutas desecadas, man made dehydrated fruit, which you can also find at Holland & Barrett in the UK as well as in many supermarkets.
