We have what is starting to look like a nasty forest fire a couple of miles above us in the mountains. The helicopters are flying round, bomberos going up the road. Hope they catch it in time. The last bad one we had about 5 years ago did incredible damage. This photo was sent to my by a friend on another forum.

we had a biggish one between Gata de Gorgos & LLiber at the beginning of the week too - some were evacuated - it started in the late evening after dark, it burned all night & they managed to get it out with the water dumping helicopters next morning

Near Ifonche on the S.W. slopes of Tenerife.
One of my favourite haunts,many moons ago.

I saw quite a few bad fires down there, but those Canarian Pines have some rare powers of recovery and they were often back to normal in a year or two.
